Moe Ari is a leading mental health expert in Gender Identity. They have worked as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, and families and founded Transcendent Therapy & Consulting, LLC, a practice that offers gender-affirming and celebratory care to the LGBTQ+ community.

As the Love and Connection Expert at Hinge, Moe Ari pairs their expertise in LGBTQIA+ relationships with Hinge’s research. Their most recent participation in Hinge’s Not-So Frequently Asked Questions (NFAQ) resource landed them on billboards throughout NYC, LA, and London.

Moe Ari is also a public speaker, educating others on allyship for the Trans community. His academic work, “Transcending the Binary: A Narrative Therapy Approach to Helping Black Trans Men,” is included in Black Couples Therapy: Clinical Theory and Practice, a textbook for couples therapy published by Cambridge University Press.

“With 20% of Gen Z in the US identifying as LGBTQIA+( Gallup, 2022), what we do in the present moment with regard to LGBTQIA+ advocacy, education, policy, and visibility matters for future generations who are growing up and watching how their elders love, live authentically, and rise through adversity. The pressures of being a youth are difficult enough, without discriminatory legislation and practices against LGBTQ+ people being ramped up globally. This is why ramping up positive, joyful, and celebratory programming targeted at LGBTQIA+ people is so important.

“As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I know firsthand how important hope and opportunity are to youth who may not always feel visible to their families, their communities, or their schools. For this reason, I am excited to join the It Gets Better Project Board of Directors. It Gets Better has worked tirelessly for more than a decade to uplift LGBTQIA+ youth across the globe. I am inspired by the opportunity to work toward a world, as identified in the It Gets Better Pledge, where hope (and love) outshine fear.”
