Created by Orci and It Gets Better in partnership with Rabble Games, Perfectly Queer is a gamified conversation guide—with its accompanying deck of 190+ cards featuring 140 different questions—that touches on everything from personal identity to queer sexual wellness and intimacy. It uses thoughtful prompts and questions to not just enable, but encourage players to share. Just like our Shorty-Award winning Vodcast of the same name, Perfectly Queer is all about sparking a dialogue and forming community.
The aim? To foster much-needed dialogue which will not just drive understanding and tolerance but will help queer youth feel both seen and heard within their families and friend groups.
To play the game, players can choose questions from four categories—Introductory, Informative, Informal and Intense—each brought to life by illustrations developed by a queer partner artist and that depict a range of representatives from the community.
Informative
Intensity level – Light.
This category is our easiest to get into, a trivia style Q&A where you can test your knowledge and learn LGBTQ+ basics.
Example: What does the LGBTQ+ acronym stand for?
Introductory
Intensity level – Moderate.
Things get a little more personal in this category. Perfect for players who are just starting to get to know each other or who haven’t had the LGTBQ+ talk yet and just want to get started.
Example: What stereotypes did you grow up hearing about LGBTQ+ people?
Informal
Intensity level – Moderately Fun.
For players who are a little more comfortable in the queer skin they’re in. A light-hearted and humorous approach to queer conversation.
Example: Who gave you “the sex talk” and how brutally awkward was that conversation?
Intense
Intensity Level – High
The category for players who really want to get to know each other on a deeper level. You’ll find tough but insightful questions designed to breakdown barriers and spark genuine connection.
