Internet Safety for LGBTQ+ Youth

Scroll. Click. Swipe. Repeat. For today’s youth, being online isn’t just a part of life—it is life. From waking up with TikTok to falling asleep on FaceTime, digital life is the new normal. This is especially true for LGBTQ+ youth, many of which may not know another out & proud queer person IRL (in real life) and are in desperate need of connection, validation, and community.
Unfortunately, the harsh reality of the online world is that, despite how critically important it is for connection and access to information, it’s not entirely safe. And with LGBTQ+ youth already vulnerable to attacks in so many ways, online harassment, catfishing, outing, doxxing, and so much more are very real threats to their physical safety and mental health.
So how can LGBTQ+ youth stay safe online? Our Youth Voices partnered up with NoFiltr’s Youth Innovation Council to create digital guides for online safety, made entirely by youth for youth.
