Living Your Truth

About the EduGuide

It Gets Better’s newest EduGuide, Living Your Truth, consists of six videos and an accompanying lesson for each, bookended by a unit launch and a culminating activity. These lessons and activities are great for anywhere learning takes place: in a classroom, after school program, GSA, and more (suitable for ages 13-18). This series highlights intersectionality, the ways in which multiple identities come together to make up who we are, and how we can tap into our unique skills and interests to help create a better world.

The series includes:

Curiosity → Nneka Onuorah (she/her) is a director and producer whose directorial debut explored gender roles in the Black lesbian community.

Political Action → Olivia Julianna (she/her) is a political activist from Texas who has advocated for issues including abortion rights and climate change.

Super Powers → Thaddeus Coates (he/him) is a dancer, cartoonist, athlete, and artist from NYC who creates graphics that amplify Black and queer voices.

Symbols & Self-Care → April Kae (she/her) is a bass guitar player and activist who uses social media to share her love for music.

Community Support → Dee Trannybear (they/them) is a hairstylist and makeup artist who co-founded a company that tailors to trans and nonbinary clients.

Perspective → Chella Man (he/him) is an artist who navigates his identities through art, community, and more recently a transgender boxing collective.
