It Gets Better Brasil’s “Conversas Que” Inspiram Nominated at the 49th São Paulo International Film Festival

By Alex Orué, Assistant Manager of Global Programming

We’re thrilled to celebrate a major milestone from our global network: Conversas Que Inspiram (Conversations That Inspire), the groundbreaking series from It Gets Better Brasil, has been nominated for the Prisma Queer Award for its second season at the 49th São Paulo International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious cinema events in the world.

This honor spotlights the creativity and impact of our affiliate in Brazil and underscores how storytelling drives education, empowerment, and real-world change for LGBTQ+ youth.

Watch a behind-the-scenes look at the project:

A Project Born from Transformation

Launched in 2021, Conversas Que Inspiram grew from a regional Pride campaign into a long-term social impact series envisioned by Bruno Ferreira (he/they), now Director of It Gets Better Brasil, and creative strategist Daniel Leal (he/him). Together, they built an audiovisual project that blends purpose, representation, and social transformation—evolving from a single campaign into a talk show about diversity and education, and one of Brazil’s most impactful collaborations between a global brand and an LGBTQ+ organization.

Season one centered on inclusion and belonging in schools. Season two expanded to LGBTQ+ employability. Hosted by Thalita Gelenske and Gabriela Augusto (both Forbes Under 30 honorees), the season evolved to include Conversas Que Inspiram Immersion, a hands-on training program for six trans young people in the audiovisual industry.

The series has on major platforms such as Canal Futura and Globoplay, and was included in the Instituto Unibanco catalogue, reaching classrooms, universities, and organizations across Brazil. Beyond viewership, the project has offered mentorships, workships, and professional development experiences that have empowered dozens of LGBTQ+ young people to pursue careers in creative industries.

Conversas Que Inspiram has become one of Brazil’s most respected LGBTQ+ educational series – a finalist at the Prêmio LED – Luz na Educação, a winner at the Rio WebFest, and now a nominee for the Prisma Queer Award at the São Paulo International Film Festival.

For Bruno and the It Gets Better Brasil team, this nomination represents more than just an accolade.

“Being nominated for the Prisma Queer Award is an emotional and deeply meaningful milestone for our entire team, a recognition that honors the courage, creativity, and collective effort behind every story we tell”, Bruno said. “These recognitions symbolize something greater than trophies. They represent how stories of education and diversity can find a place in mainstream media, changing how the country sees and values LGBTQ+ narratives”.

Looking to the Future

With two celebrated seasons behind them, Conversas Que Inspiram is entering a bold new chapter. The next phase will train over 100 LGBTQ+ youth in audiovisual production by 2026, expanding the project’s reach and transforming representation into tangible professional opportunities. This is more than a program. It’s a platform for inclusive storytelling that continues to build bridges between education, visibility, and employability across Brazil.

Season two of Conversas Que Inspiran is available to watch on Globoplay for free. The series will be available in 2026 on additional platforms. Stay tuned!
