The Education Intern plays a vital role within the dynamic It Gets Better EDU team, dedicated to empowering LGBTQ+ youth nationwide. They contribute to our mission of delivering uplifting stories to youth wherever learning takes place, ensuring accessibility to educators and student leaders. By providing easily accessible resources, information, and opportunities, they support our commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide feedback on existing EDU programming including: Youth Voices, 50 States. 50 Grants. 5000 Voices., community engagement efforts, EduGuides+, and more.
- Assist in the promotion, organization, facilitation, and chat moderation for all Youth Voices meetings, as well as special events such as LGBTQ+ Career Day (5/22) and the Youth Voices Graduation (7/17).
- Help coordinate any Pride activations involving Youth Voices throughout June 2024.
- Assist in the reviews (June), interviews (July 8-12), selection, and on-boarding (July 15 – 31) processes for the Youth Voices – Class of 2025.
- Assist in the offboarding of the existing class and onboarding of the new grantee class of 50 States. 50 Grants. 5000 Voices., including assisting in collecting and sending grantee paperwork, and reviewing final reports.
- Other duties as assigned related to successful implementation of It Gets Better EDU programming.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Passion and interest in education, reaching LGBTQ+ students, and making school environments a more welcoming and empowering place for students.
- Significant knowledge and understanding of the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth, especially LGBTQ+ youth of color.
- Passion for It Gets Better’s mission and for how the organization serves LGBTQ+ youth and their allies.
- Capable of working independently, especially in a remote working environment.
- Comfortable working in a fully remote environment.
- Comfortable speaking to large audiences.
- Available July 8-12, 3-6p PT for Youth Voices interviews.
Preferred:
- Spanish speaking
- Experience in LGBTQ+ education facilitation and development, or equivalent.
- Experience facilitating presentations via Zoom.
