During our 2021 Digital Pride Experience, we got a little surprise visit from the White House: President Joe Biden sent in a message of support for LGBTQ+ Youth.

“I’m proud of you for being who you are — being true to yourself,” the president says to LGBTQ+ youth in his video. “I want you to know you’re not alone. Your president has your back, and lots of other people do as well.”

This marks the second time a sitting president has recorded a video in support of the It Gets Better Project. In 2010, President Obama recorded an It Gets Better video. Biden recorded his first It Gets Better video that year as well.

Biden’s new It Gets Better message comes accompanied by a video from Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff. In his video, he tells LGBTQ+ youth,  “Be confident in who you are. Embrace your differences. But don’t ever feel like you’re in this by yourself, because you’re not.”
