STAFF – Development Coordinator

Position: Development Coordinator 

Reports to: Development Manager

Salary: Competitive and Commensurate with Experience

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Probation: 30 days/1 month 

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting the fundraising efforts and development operations of the It Gets Better Project in an effort to increase annual revenue and further the mission of the organization. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist with the implementation of annual  giving programs, including but not limited to recurring gifts, peer-to-peer initiatives, and year-end campaigning.
  • Coordinate key donor communications, including gift acknowledgements, e-communications, and other promotions
  • Conduct prospect research, as needed. 
  • Maintain a small portfolio of prospective donors 
  • Liaise with the Communications team to coordinate digital fundraising initiatives across and social media.
  • Maintain donor database, including monitoring incoming donations, entering and updating donor records with proper information and donation history, compiling and running reports, and coordinating donor reconciliation with the Operations department
  • Assist in writing grant proposals and sponsor agreements
  • Coordinate ongoing compliance requirements for state-based charity registrations 
  • Attend Board Development Committee Meetings as needed
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams to ensure fundraising objectives are fully integrated and effectively positioned.

  • Strong commitment to the It Gets Better Project’s mission to uplift, empower, and connect LGBTQ+ youth around the globe.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent projects or tasks with strong attention to detail
  • Experience with business applications, including G-Suite, Microsoft Office, Salesforce or other CRM platforms, etc.
  • Familiarity with online search and other prospect research tools, such as FDO and Guidestar
  • In-depth knowledge of social media and other e-revenue platforms is a plus.
  • Minimum 3-4 years experience working in fundraising and/or nonprofit setting
  • Experience working with a diverse team and promoting a positive brand image
