Michael Arceneaux (he/him) is the author of the 2018 essay collection I Can’t Date Jesus, a New York Times bestselling book. It focuses on his early life as a young Black gay man growing up in a religious household in the southern United States. His second book, I Don’t Want to Die Poor, came out in 2020 and expands on an essay Michael wrote for The New York Times describing his personal student loan debt and how income inequality often impacts Black and LGBTQ+ young adults.
