At a time when young LGBTQ+ people are actively seeking out ways to connect and find community in the digital space, the It Gets Better Project is honored to partner with TikTok as a participant in TikTok’s Creative Learning Fund (CLF.) The program has enhanced the It Gets Better Project’s ability to share stories that uplift, empower and connect LGBTQ+ youth and has provided our organization with unprecedented reach to a global audience.
Through the CLF, and the incredible support of TikTok content creators and organizational leadership, the It Gets Better Project has grown its TikTok following exponentially and has launched a new platform-specific fundraising effort to sustain our life-affirming work in the digital space,
The It Gets Better Project’s online Pride celebration, It Gets Better: A Digital Pride Experience, was live-streamed on TikTok, resulting in a viewership of more than 300K people over the course of the three day event. The It Gets Better Project’s Pride-themed posts were also featured via the #MyPride feed, contributing to the unprecedented growth in followers, which saw a leap of nearly 75K.
As part of a back-to-school blitz the It Gets Better Project worked with TikTok to launch the Class of 2021 #Queerbook campaign to provide a healthy dose of support and inspiration for LGBTQ+ students returning to the classroom. The campaign was a huge success, with nearly 36 million views and thousands of participants contributing their advice for LGBTQ+ young people
The It Gets Better Project’s partnership with TikTok has become a beacon of hope for LGBTQ+ youth around the world. The partnership is providing a new forum to digitally connect LGBTQ+ young people to the resources needed to navigate their SOGI journey and the community that will help them find joy along the way. Together, we are creating a world where all LGBTQ+ young people are free to live equally and know their worthiness and power as individuals!
