Relief, anger, sadness, frustration, hope — all valid reactions to the 330 days it took to hold Derek Chauvin accountable for the murder of George Floyd. While we saw some accountability, there will be no celebration — George Floyd and our Black communities should never have had to pay this price in the first place.
We encourage everyone reeling in the wake of this trial to take a moment to pause, reflect, and prioritize their personal well-being and mental health. We will be sharing information across our social media platforms about organizations serving the Black LGBTQ+ community, as well as advice and guidance from queer activists who are working day and night to positively impact the fight for racial justice.
Take care of yourself today and every day. Check up on friends and loved ones too. If you have ideas about how others can practice self-care, please share tips and resources with us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
Never forget — we are never alone! Momentum is building toward a future in which we all thrive. Let’s continue uplifting the voices of others and speaking out when situations demand it.
Black lives matter – always and forever.
