History of iT|Gets Better
An Atlanta resident
and Information Technology Business Analyst, came up with the idea to
strengthen communities and families through technology. iT|Gets Better
was founded in 2007 as a way to bridge the gap between youth
development leaders, parents and youth. The founder gave most of her
savings in order to start the organization and begin to achieve the
organizations goals.
The
organization reached out to Atlanta Area and Washington DC Area, youth
development organizations to support their website design and
maintenance services. A few of these programs are the Atlanta Adopt A
Student Program and the I AM B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. programs. Both of these
programs are mentoring programs within the Atlanta Area.
By,
late 2007 iT|Gets Better had partnered with 2 additional programs to
achieve their goals. This included The Scholarship Academy and Girls of
Greatness. In the beginning of 2008, iT|Gets Better partnered with
S.T.E.P. Into Saturday School, an after-school tutoring program serving
a few Dekalb County public schools, to teach workshops on Information
Technology. SinceĀ iT|Gets Better has partnered with 7 ATLANTA Area and
1 WASH/DC Area Youth Development Organizations. iT|Gets Better has 3
outstanding proposals with youth development organizations within the
Atlanta Area in order to reach their goal to partner with 10
organizations.
In late 2008, iT|Gets Better has narrowed their
mission to creativity bridging the technology gap between youth and
parents while educating and promoting best practices in the area of
information technology. iT|Gets Better continues to provide IT services
and workshops to their partners.
